La Locanda di Mezzo – A Little Bit of Middle Earth in Sulmona

If, like me, you love all things ‘Lord of the Rings’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ – you might want to take a trip to the medieval town of Sulmona.  For besides being able to explore the narrow Abruzzen streets, and the 13th century aqueduct, and wander around the market that fills the Piazza Garibaldi (on Saturdays) or join in the medieval celebrations that accompany the  jousting skills at the  Giostra Cavalleresca – There is another hidden world within the city walls, and you enter it through an unassuming bar called ‘La Locanda di Mezzo‘ – this small bar pays homage to all things fantastical, with particular emphasis on ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Lord of the Rings’ – pay it a visit and you really could be in a tavern in Middle Earth.
